Case 25: Cruciate repair

‘TEF’ Male (n), English Springer Spaniel, 13/12/99

 

History; Transferred from another practice, 5 month history of right hind lameness.

31/01/08; 24.4kg Sedate to x-ray, ruptured right cruciate ligament & subsequent DJD.

Onto Satiety Support food as overweight,

Start Rimadyl (carprofen) 50mg ½ tablet twice daily

Start Flexadin (glucosamine/chondroitin)supplement.

 

06/03/08; 21.8kg GA arthrotomy right stifle, modified De-angelis suture repair.

Hospitalised overnight.

07/03/08; Discharged, toe-touching.

11/03/08; Check up, doing well inject cartrofen

17/03/08; Trial treadmill;  1.6 k/h  4 minutes

Inject cartrofen

19/03/08;  Treadmill;  1.6 k/h  1.5 minutes

                                   1.8 k/h  0.5 minutes

                                   2.0 k/h  1 minute

                                   2.2 k/h  1 minute

                                   2.4 k/h  7 minutes 

24/03/08; inject cartrofen

25/03/08;  Treadmill;  1.8 k/h  2 minutes

                                   2.0 k/h  1 minute

                                   2.4 k/h  2 minutes

                                   2.6 k/h  6 minutes

Fantastic, weight bearing really well.

28/03/08; 19.8kg

                 Treadmill;  2.0 k/h  1 minute

                                   2.2 k/h  1 minute  5 % incline

                                   2.4 k/h  3 minutes       ‘’

31/03/08;  Treadmill;  2.2 k/h  1 minute

Walking well, very good flexion of stifle, 99% weight bearing, & starting to muscle up well. Inject cartrofen.

16/04/08;  Treadmill;  3.0 k/h  14 minutes  10 % incline

Signed off treadmill as doing fantastically well!

Reassess in 2 weeks.
